Why I'm launching Prolonged
There is nothing unique about a life interrupted by disease.
We are, after all, inherently vulnerable beings whose bodies fall prey, rally, fall prey again- and on and on until our eventual end.
Collectively, however, we are surfing a salient moment of novel disease living all around us- in our racked bodies, our overwhelmed and anxious minds, our very spirit. Without discrimination, in some form or another, Covid 19 has affected all of us as we putter about our lives longing for a time when KN95 was just as likely to be the name of a punk band as anything else we could imagine.
For those of us who have yet to recover from this wily virus, our lives have been suspended in a realm of unknowable surround. It is a shaded place, often inky, and fraught with paradox. It is here, in this liminal stretch, that I long for shared story.
Prolonged is a place to offer an intimate and honest view into my own journey as I navigate recovery, grief, and transition through living with Long Covid. I hope that my musings and candid chronicle will offer resonance for anyone in a similar spot.
